Tio is a company that has developed a simple keyboard technology for hardware and software. And when they needed a simple and effective brand identity to market their solution successfully, their firm OnWired hired Glitschka Studios to create it for them.

We partnered with OnWired to create an iconic logotype that symbolizes the functionality of the Tio product. We also helped to establish the companies brand color scheme moving forward.

Whether you’re a start up like Tio, a multi-national corporation, or just a small business owner we’ll treat your identity project with the care and precision it needs to help you grow and equip your business.
Glitschka Studios works with our clients to meet their marketing needs as they grow and expand their business. Vuly Trampolines continues to develop new ideas for those who use their products and their latest is a fun and flexible basketball hoop.

The problem with marketing this new product was the fact it was created after their latest catalog was printed. So we suggested turning it into a promotional that could be folded up and inserted into each of catalogs moving forward. The promotion unfolds to reveal a fun poster design on the front that people can hang up, and the back of the poster provides all the specific product information.

If you’d like to see additional design and marketing we’ve developed for our client Vuly and how it’s helped them to grow their business than visit here.

Glitschka Studios works with a lot of larger agencies and their multi-national clientele. That said we also enjoy focusing our creative energy on smaller yet equally challenging local clients as well.

One of these smaller clients is Daniel Talsky. By day Daniel is a web developer and by night he’s a rapper going by the persona of Anvil Esquire. He takes his music seriously, but he still likes to have fun with it as well. Hence his moniker is a paradox of absurdity.

Like any creative attempting to get something off the ground his budget was razor thin. Since the real color in terms of his performance is his music we decided to keep his graphics purposefully minimal. We developed a nice brand system he can use in a multitude of ways to help him promote his music and events moving forward at a very reasonable cost.

Tired of the visual tune your identity is singing? We can help.
Client: VectorScribe – Astute Graphics, UK
Art Director: Nick Van Der Walle

A few months back Glitschka Studios was contacted by Astute Graphics a software development company out of the United Kingdom. They had read our new book Vector Basic Training, and had recently acquired the IP for an Adobe Illustrator plugin called BetterHandles which we covered in our book. We wear asked to consult and be a beta testers for the new version of the plugin which would be renamed VectorScribe

Our creative process is systematic and we rely heavily on drawing out our ideas in analog form before we ever approach the computer and execute them via digital tools. We feel a good balance between analog and digital is vital to creating precise and well crafted vector art. Any software tool that makes this process more flexible, easier, faster, and with more precision is a must have for any designer or illustrator and this is the case with the new plugin VectorScribe. When we first used it our jaws dropped, it’s intuitive and incredibly useful.

We collaborated with Astute Graphics and came up with a fun approach to brand the new plugin with, a happy buddha character. We also created the slogan “Inspired vector tools for creative enlightenment.” to go with it. Since the VectorScribe plugin tends to generate smiles on the faces of the users who interact with it, we wanted to create a fun memorable character that would do the same.

We enjoy capturing the essence of an experience and reflecting that within a brand graphic and we’d love to do it for your next project.
Glitschka Studios loves to make other agencies look good by delivering effective design that helps them meet the needs of their clients. These same agencies also ask us to assist them in their own marketing and promotional efforts as well. Each year OnMessage hosts a ‘March Madness’ event and they passed us the creative ball to us to deliver a slam dunk solution.

We had a little metaphoric fun with the event concept and leveraged a linear style that would give the basketball figures a sophisticated yet motion oriented aesthetic.

Draft us for your next project and we’ll create a winning one liner.
The Motto Agency runs a website called Behind The Brand, an online archive to showcase the compelling stories behind some of today’s most innovative and inspiring brands and the people behind them.

The story behind the logo for the Behind The Brand website involves Glitschka Studios, who was hired by Motto to explore a diverse range of concepts for the sites identity.

Exploration is just that, it’s an exploratory look at a wide range of potential solutions for a design. You try various styles and approaches in order to isolate one you can move forward with for the specific project. We were happy with many of the potential directions we developed for Motto.

I do a lot of traveling all around the country speaking at design conferences, local AIGA events, AdFed Groups, in-house marketing groups, and schools. The later is one I enjoy doing a lot because it usually involves an aspect of teaching. The audience for the most part is comprised of students eager to jump into our industry and learn new things and that enthusiasm inspires me.

The visual communications department at Bismarck State College has invited me to speak on the topic of “Creating 5ive-Alarm Concepts” and take part in the review of student work. They also asked if I’d design a poster for the event.

Since this presentation is sponsored by a college design program and is student oriented, I decided to turn it into a teaching tool for the departments instructors as well. When I delivered the final art for printing I also provided my build files along with detailed notes about my design concept, creative process, and any methods I used to develop and create the poster design. This allows the the teachers to deconstruct the project with their students and teach from it.

If you teach design and would like to have access to the same build files and notes, just email me and I’ll be happy to provide you with a link to download them.

Art Director: Von Glitschka

Glitschka Studios is happy to announce the release of our new design book called “Vector Basic Training.” (VBT) A full-access pass to the systematic creative methods we use on our own projects.

Over six months in the making VBT exhaustively covers the creative process from pencil sketches to final vector artwork. The methods documented in the book will help any designer improve their own skills. This 230 page book is jam packed with in-depth content and images that help to demystify the creation of vector based design and illustration through simple to follow methodology and comes with a DVD containing over four hours of screencasts covering the core methods discussed in the book.

Here are what other creative leaders are saying about “Vector Basic Training.”

“With Vector Basic Training, Von Glitschka shames me. And I thank him for it. He reminds me that I am walking a tightrope of forsaking my first love: drawing. Von approaches the Process with an honor and reverence that emerges from a tradition rooted in Art as much as design. His depth of thought, trained hand and ability to art direct himself has produced a stunning body of work and he brings it all home in VBT to share with the reader. That’s the thing with Von, not only is he a powerful talent, he’s gracious enough to share it all. I’ll be keeping my copy of VBT next to my Mac and yes, my sketch pad.” - Terry Marks, TMARKS Design

“Glitschka has written a really useful treatise for improving one’s conceptual ability, drawing skills and finished art. His main point is something we also tell designers, “don’t jump to the computer.” We all have the same tools, filters and blends. This leads to a commoditization of design and illustration. By stressing that ideation and drawing are the essential first and continuing steps before refinement he helps designers avoid missteps and this will ultimately make their work more original and fresh.” - Richard Westendorf, Executive Creative Director, Landor Associates

“As president of the School of Advertising Art (saa), I would like to thank Von for writing this book. Young designers need to understand the power of the drawing process, and they need to know that time spent sketching before jumping to the computer is time well spent on any project. Von clearly demonstrates this philosophy throughout the book by incorporating interesting visual examples of his work. I am excited to share Vector Basic Training with saa students.” - Jessica Graves, President, School of Advertising Art

“The problem with vector images today is that I hate most of them! Mainly because something dies between the drawing and the precision vector graphic version. Perhaps it’s the illustration’s soul lost in the transition? Most vector images today contain too many cyber slick gradations, they are too mathmatically perfect, like many of the billions of images populating millions of microstock sites that lack anything real and human. If Von’s book can help improve a designer’s ability to create better vector images, I’m all for it. And remember – Just because you can make everything a gradation doesn’t mean you should make everything a gradation.” - Charles Anderson, CSA Design
Even creative studios need creative help at times. Hepburn Creative a multimedia design company specializing in video production and photography needed an appropriate mark that would represent them well in their industry, so they turned to Glitschka Studios to design a new identity.

Whether shooting video or photography, it’s all about capturing the perfect angle within the greater context of the project. The colors in this design represent these angles, the circular shape reflects the project focus, and the spark is the inspiring idea Hepburn Creative captures for their clients.

A blurry image can be purposeful through acute depth of field, or it can be a tell-tale sign of ones lacking skills. Having the right focus is what marketing is all about, and the creative continuity we’ve established within this brand system enables our client to more effectively market themselves to their clients, and that’s what communication arts is all about.
Many times Glitschka Studios is hired by our clients to do exploratory work. Developing and fleshing out concepts in order to help them define a direction, in this case an identity. An art director who works for a church in Florida had us explore a custom logo type solution that would reflect the new name of another ministry they were starting called Rebel Church.

The thought behind our solution was simple, if you’re going to call yourself a rebel than you can’t play it safe. After all Jesus was the ultimate rebel, He spoke frankly to those around Him, didn’t back down, and was nailed to a cross to forever make His point clear. So we felt obligated to produce a design solution that wouldn’t look like any other Church logo out there. A rebel with a cause if you will.

We realized the risk in our approach but felt it was warranted. When our design concept was presented however it was eventually crucified by committee and cast asunder into graphic purgatory. That said, we forgive them because we think it’s pretty righteous.
