Author Mordy Golding asked Glitschka Studios to illustrate the cover for his latest “Real World Illustrator” book.

It’s always a challenge to create a cover that demonstrates and showcases new features in a software application, but do it in a fun and memorable way. For this design I focused on the fact that the new release was “CS5.” So I played off the number “5″ by featured the top “5″ new features, and kept the central focus the user.

Glitschka Studios enjoys it’s roll as a strategic design partner for other agencies when it comes to branding. Hillebrand Cory needed some fun linear illustrations to facilitate their print collateral concept for the National Restaurant Association, so we developed the visual recipe needed.

To help them achieve the look they were after we also designed a custom repeat pattern they could use as a background element on the cover.

When ever we create an illustration for editorial use we obviously have to read the article. Doing so has allowed us to understand new industries and the often subtle and not so subtle issues within them. From this informed perspective we’re able to create an appropriate visual for the article.

This full page illustration was for an article on shale gas replacing oil and offering a clean energy source moving into the future leaving old petroleum resources behind. We suggested using the linear line style because it’s a clean, efficient approach that matched the personality of the article while reflecting the attributes of the new energy source.

The end result is a nice sophisticated feel.

Huntik™ is a roll playing game produced by Upper Deck Company. Each character card in the set needed a custom avatar icon designed for it.

Simplicity is key when developing iconography. So being able to bake down complex character attributes so they work as a simplistic one color quickly read piece of art can be challenging.

Unfortunately due to the economy Upper Deck Company has now shut down their entertainment division and this killed the project before it ever saw the light of day.

My client on this project was a small business owner who specializes in marketing. She requested clean continuous line illustrations that she could integrate into her web site to reflect her own personality and style.

Creating art that is encapsulated within one continuous line is challenging. And as you can see it’s not an ironclad rule but a general stylistic premise we operate under at Glitschka Studios. This style works well for a very broad range of clients and product types and we’d love to draw up some ideas for your next project too.

Working as a creative hired gun sometimes means spending a lot of time creating unique solutions that’ll ultimately never see the light of day. Such was the case with this design illustrated for St. Martins Press for use on the cover of a new book. I’ve created other iconic images for this same client, and the creative director loved this tribal styled bear. But after it was all said and done the author didn’t like it so it was never used.

At Glitschka Studios we believe in renewable creative energy, so we recycle any quality design not being used and repurpose it for other projects of ours such as “Vonster Tattoos,” a new line of tribal styled designs we are developing.

Like the wind inspiration can hit you at any moment from any direction, so at Glitschka Studios we pay attention to the prevailing creative winds letting our imaginations set sail.

What started as a small pencil sketch while watching a movie led to a very fun creative process as we produced the artwork shown below. When it was all said and done we named our new creation “TRI 3Y3 Guy.” Is he a Mutant, Monster, Freak, or just a happy go-lucky alien hybrid? No one knows for sure, so we’ll let you decide.
